Acupuncture is a safe and drug-free way to help those who cannot sleep well. Studies have found that acupuncture can assist with the quality and quantity of one's sleep. Clinical trials showed that sleep duration increased by three hours when acupuncture treatments were given. This was between groups that were medicated and not medicated. Although further and larger clinical trials are being performed, the consensus is that acupuncture is effective and a safe mode of treatment. Following a routine, taking a hot bath or shower before bedtime, and/or meditation also helps those with trouble sleeping.
